Hi,

Thanks for checking out my site.

I'm getting ready to head back to one of my favorite cities, Tokyo, where I'll be performing at the New York Bar. It's an amazing club in the Park Hyatt in Shinjuku. If you've ever seen the movie, Lost In Translation, that's where it was filmed. Fantastic. Tokyo is one of my favorite places in the world. The culture, the people, the music! It was great to be back there.

In Japan, I play with great musicians: New York based Oliver von Essen on piano, Brent Nussey on bass, and Neil Stalnaker on trumpet. Brent is from Canada but has been living in Japan for over 6 years. Neil too. He's been there for about the same amount of time and is from the Washington, DC area. But this time, we're changingup the cast of characters a little bit.

On piano, New York based Robert Cowie. James Mahone will be playing the saxophone. James is from the States, but has been living with his family in Japan for a few years. I'm looking forward to playing with these guys as they both come highly recommended. Brent Nussey is back again this year. We're all gonna have a good time.

There is such an appreciation for jazz in Japan. Many audiences treat the music with the kind of reverence that it has always deserved. It's truly refreshing.

Last year, I performed in Mumbai, India with another great trio. They are exceptional jazz musicains from the Phillipines and Indonesia. What an incredible experience. The two musicians from Jakarta, Indonosia, Perry (bass) and Sucat (piano), were performing in Amman, Jordan when the bombs attacked the Grand Hyatt. Sucat was not injured very much, but unfortunately, Perry was killed from the bombs. Please keep his family in your prayers.

The whole experience in India is something I'll never forget. In many ways, India is still new to traditional jazz. Of course, there are the exceptions who know and love the music. But I'm talking about the masses.

It was an honor for me to perform in India. We did our best to honor the integrity of jazz music and to honor the ones who have made this only American Art form possible. So our role there was to perform, learn and to teach a little bit too. It was an education for us all.

Before I leave the States this time, I've got one concert happening in Washington, DC. If you click on the calender link, you'll get the details. I hope to see you there.

Thanks again for checking out my site. You can hear clips from my current CD by clicking on the music link...and don't be shy about dropping me an email now and then. I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks for your love and support!

With Love,

Angela
